No plans to hike fuel price – Osinbajo

The federal government has reinstated that there is no plans to increase the  price of Premium Motor Spirit ( PMS) in year 2018.

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo spoke during his visit to some major Fuel depot  terminals and stakeholders in Apapa, Lagos on Monday.

Osinbajo said the Liquidity problem facing the country is as a result of short deliveries and supply to depots across the country.

According to him, “The President is very much concerned about Nigerians and how we can quickly end the fuel scarcity crisis in the country”.

Although the fuel crisis presently confronting the country is as a result of short supply of fuel to depots across the country”.

“But we hope that in the next couple of days, we would be able to end the fuel queues”.

Osinbajo added that defaulting filling stations hoarding  fuel for the purpose of making extra profit will be dealt with by the enforcement agency saddled with the responsibility of regulating the sector”.

Speaking earlier at the stakeholders interaction meeting, the Minister for State Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu said, the gridlock presently holding the country back will be over by wednessday because, over 150 trucks are suppling fuel daily and there have been series of meetings and consultations with the oil marketers.

He added that, there will be a meeting between him and the Group managing director of NNPC, Dr. Baru to put together structures and additional plans to end the fuel shortage currently facing the country
