NLC threatens to shut down Imo state, gives Okorocha 14-Day ultimatum


The crisis rocking Nigeria Labour Congress persisted as Comrade Ajaero fraction of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) issued 14-day ultimatum to the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha over the sack of three thousand workers recently.

‎Ajaero, who is also the General Secretary of National Union of Electricity Employee (NUEE) disclosed this during a press conference in Lagos on Friday.

It would be recalled that the substantive NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Waba had called Ajaero’s fraction to settle the crisis last year when they had world decent day in Lagos, but Ajaero’s group pretended as if all is well.

‎They threatened to shut down Imo state if nothing is done within the short time issued.

According to him, Governor Rochas Okorocha has flaunted the labour laws and we are going to give reeled a 14 day ultimatum to him.

The group therefore said all the workers must be recalled back to duty‎ and he should pay their salaries, insisting that if conditions are not met, they would shut down operation of the government including its offices in both Lagos and Abuja.

Reacting to the news that NLC has no internal crisis, the NUEE secretary said a final reconciliation meeting will be held on Monday in Abuja.  However, this faction of the NLC stressed that to have a unified NLC there must be proper harmonization by the two parties to move the nation and workers welfare forward.
