National Teachers Institute founder, Hafiz Wali dies at 81

Dr​ ​Hafiz Sulaiman Wali, an educationist and founder of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) Kaduna is dead.

Late Wali died ​on Sunday at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital at the age of 81 after a brief illness.

​”​My late father had an infection about two weeks ago and was admitted at AKTH where he died today (yesterday)‎”, his son, Aminu Hafiz Wali said. ​

The deceased​ is survived by a wife, four children and some grandchildren.

The late Wali was an elder brother to Professor Sadiq Suleiman Wali, a former chief physician to four heads of state.

He started as a teacher in Maiduguri at Yerwa Secondary School. Later, he was transferred to Idah Craft School in today’s Kogi State, and then to Mashi Craft School in Katsina State.

He taught at Wudil Technical College and was later promoted to the rank of Inspector in Kaduna.
