NASS Leadership: Bauchi women group seeks re-election of Dogara as Speaker

Ahead of the June 11 National Assembly inauguration, a group, Women coalition for sustainable Peace and Viable Democratic Gains in Bauchi State has appealed to all members of the Federal House of representatives in the ninth assembly to re-elect the Speaker of the Federal House of representatives, Yakubu Dogara as the Speaker of the House.

The women Leader, Addaji Mohammed said, that Dogara had achieved a lot as the Speaker of the House in the last four years, he united the house members and feel like one big family without rancour, they passed bills that touched the lives of Nigerians.

“Dogara brought tremendous progress to the entire North Eastern part of Nigeria by creating bill that established North east development Commission, his love and assistance to the Internally displaced Persons, his health care and feeding programmes cover the six states in the region and he brought development projects to Bauchi state especially his constituency where numerous projects were executed.

“You may consider this as call to serve, as we women can no long fold our arms to watch our dear country go to waste when people like you exist, who knows the value of human beings, who is ready to sacrifice his own needs for the benefit of others, a calm highly articulated democrat that should not be left to waste after all, a woman knows better as we are victims at the receiving end.

Addaji described Dogara as a true democrat who worked for the interest of the country.

She said they decided to pray because of the challenges faced in electing new speaker so that Allah in his infinite mercy will guide the reps members in choosing a capable, willing and able leader who demonstrated a stewardship that stands the test of time. And  they also called on the Speaker to re-contest his position in order to consolidate on his achievements, both at the national and constituency levels because those achievements need to be sustained and consolidated.

The women lauded Dogara for his effort towards the creation of North East Development Commission, during his time as speaker of the house. Also, they commended him for giving succour to the  displaced persons in the  northeast by insurgency.

Addaji appealed to the entire people of Bauchi State to pray for Dogara’s success and commended the speaker for coming out fearlessly and led the fight that rescued the state by defeating Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar in the last governorship election.
