Manchester United target Ivan Perisic is happy to stay at Inter Milan for the foreseeable future, according to his Croatia national coach Ante Cacic.

With the summer transfer window closing soon, the 28-year-old has been heavily linked to the Europa League champions

But Cacic says he can’t see the winger changing clubs, as Croatia prepare to play Kosovo in UEFA World Cup qualifying in Zagreb on Saturday.

“I spoke to Ivan Perisic, he is happy at Inter,” Cacic told reporters.

“The coach [Luciano Spalletti] appreciates him… they are preparing new contract for him.”

Croatia head Group I of European qualifying from Euro 2012 surprise packets Iceland, on goal difference after six games.

While Perisic is likely to start, Croatia will be without striker Nikola Kalinic after his move to AC Milan from Serie A rivals Fiorentina.

“I spoke to Nikola Kalinic and he informed me he is not in great shape, he just moved to a new club, didn’t train regularly, so he will miss our match on Saturday. He will work special programme instead,” Cacic said.

But veteran midfielder Luka Modric will be available for the match against Kosovo, plus the trip to Turkey on Sep. 5, despite having recently hinted at international retirement. This came after he was branded a villain in his homeland after giving testimony in a tax fraud trial involving a former Dinamo Zagreb director.

“Luka Modric is best midfielder in the world, proud of Croatia and he never considered quitting national team,” Cacic said.
