The House of Representatives Committee on Maritime Education, Safety and Administration has assured stakeholders of its continuous review on existing laws for the betterment of the shipping sector.
Chairman of the committee, Honourable Lynda Ikpeazu gave the assurance at the World Maritime Day Celebration held in Lagos recently.
Ikpeazu ,while reacting to stakeholders suggestions ,noted that the lower chambers would work in tandem for the sector growth adding that will synergize with the executive arm of government to revamping the sector.
Ikpeazu represented Onitsha North South Constituency of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) called on maritime agencies and parastatals to work closely with the green chambers in achieving set goals for the sector.
The lawmakers reiterated that there was need for the sector to approach to Bank Of Industry (BOI) for the funding of capital project that could sustain maritime growth adding that the lawmakers would ensure apt policies to promote shipping in the country and sub region.
