Bauchi State Government has announced that 19 people have lost their lives to Lassa Fever.
This was made known by the Chairman of the state Taskforce on Disease Control, Deputy Governor, Baba Tela, while briefing newsmen on Thursday.
He said out of the six cases in the state, four patients including the State Governor have been discharged. “We now have only two patients,” he explained.
He added that one of the active cases has been tested negative on his first test in fourteen days on treatment. “If his second test comes out negative, we will discharge him,” Baba Tela said.
On Lassa Fever, he said the number of casualties is 19 while 48 other who were confirmed are under medication and recovering “very well”.
Baba Tela said the state must improve on it awareness campaign to eliminate the spread of Lassa Fever. He added that the state has approved N25million for the control of Lassa Fever while N1.98million was approved for procurement of virus transport medium (VTM).
