The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) in her weekly reports has revealed that a total of 104 or the 531 Lassa fever suspected cases have been confirmed with 6 cases of death bringing it to a total of 43 deaths since the outbreak.
This, according to the center, shows a case feterlity rate (CFR) of 12.9% which is said to be lower than the CFR of 17.7% recorded within the same period in 2019.
Reports also shows that all confirmed cases have been recorded from 39 LGAs in 15 states with the highest confirmation in Edo state (76%) and lowest in Ebonyi state (6%).
Although one health worker was affected in Delta state, NCDC said it is working to support every state in Nigeria to identify one treatment center while supporting the existing ones with care, treatment and IPC commodities.
Still on its response activities, state public health emergency operation centres have been activated in all state in coordination with the National emergency operation center. Risk communication and community engagement activities has also been scaled up across states with partnership of various media outfit.
