The Lagos state Waste Management Agency has once again warned residents of the state to desist from the act of throwing dirt on the road particularly through vehicle, restating that offenders risk a jail sentence or a huge fine.
This according to LAWMA officials became part of measure taken by the state government to ensure a clean, safe and green state that will be habitable for all and free from environmental hazards and diseases. According to an environment program aired on a state owned radio station and monitored by our reporter at the weekend, the state government also reiterated its effort in combating environmental problem that may surface particularly during this persistent rainy season.
The agency further urged Lagosians to patronize the waste management Agency in disposing of their dirt in order to maintain environmental hygiene in their locality and further help fight diseases that may ensue through dirtiness and poor sanitation.
However, residents during the phone-in session lamented on the attitude of some officials on the agency in attending to them despite their subscription. They said some of the officials always failed to carry out their responsibility in their area despite paying their bills. In reaction, the agency promised to ensure a follow up and proper sanitation across the state.
