An Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure has sentenced to death by hanging two persons, Ita Enang and Olayemi Bamitale, who killed former Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Prof. Albert Ilemobade.
Enang and Bamitale were two domestic staff (gateman and driver) to the late don.
They were accused of killing Ilemobade late September last year and dumped his remains in an empty stall in his compound at Ijapo, Akure before carting away his Toyota SUV car and other valuable items away.
The remains of Ilemobade was later found by family members, a week after he was killed.
The criminals were arrested in Ogun State by policemen, while attempting to dispose the stolen items.
However, the Presiding Judge, Justice Olamide Williams agreed that the prosecuting counsel had proven beyond any doubt that the two accused persons caused the untimely death of the professor for their selfish gain.
Justice Olamide also found the two culprits guilty of conspiracy and robbery for taking away Prof Ilemobade’s Toyota SUV car, laptops, phones, 7000 naira and other belongings.
He frowned at the dastardly act of the two accused persons, saying “it is a further revelation that youth of nowadays just want to be rich regardless of how it comes.
The prosecuting counsel, Mr. Adesola Tuki, who spoke with reporters commended the judgement saying it will serve as a deterrent to those that may have such intentions in the future.
