From Folorunsho Alu, Kano
Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has declared total support for the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, promising that 2019, Kano will repeat the 2015 scenario where President Buhari got over two million votes to win the presidential election.
Ganduje who spoke at Kano Golden Jubilee monument, while receiving a letter from the Conference of Patriotic Nigerians (CPN), on behalf of the seven governors of the Northwest zone for onward transmission to President Muhammadu Buhari, said that within a space of two years, President Buhari has been able to tackle corruption, restore peace and order in the country.
According to him, President Buhari has built a formidable economic team that is set to revamp the economy and bring the country out of recession.
Ganduje who spoke before a huge crowd also added that, President Buhari’s administration, like no other has created job opportunities to millions of unemployed youths, as well as reviving the education sector.
According to him, “President Buhari has been arresting those who stole our money and he will continue to arrest them adding that several billions of naira has been recovered of our common wealth stolen by thieves which have now been deposited in our treasury.”
Ganduje, however, urged Nigerians to continue to pray for President Buhari who he described as a man of peace and equity who loved the country and promoted the welfare of the common man.
According to the CPN’s letter signed by its Secretary-General, Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya, “we as concerned Nigerians comprising the civil society organizations, women groups, students’ association, promoters of thorough democracy, labour groups, youth associations, traders associations, and all other patriotic Nigerians from the seven states of the North-West have gathered today in Kano for a solidarity walk in support of our dear President Muhammadu Buhari.
“In addition, we are also in support of our amiable leader, President Muhammadu Buhari and we give thanks to Allah for his safe return from a medical trip.”
CPN further condemned in strong terms what they described as anti-Buhari agents in the National Assembly who they accused of betrayal and back-stabbing of the President.
According to them, “we are deeply touched by the culture of outright betrayal and back-stabbing of President Buhari by some Nigerian state governors, Senators and members of the House of Representatives which we consider as a big threat to the principles of justice and fairness in relation between our President and his political beneficiaries.
“We can not fathom why some governors and Senators who won elections by riding on the back of President Buhari’s decent track record of service to the nation and personal integrity are now at the forefront of tacit plot to pull him down.
“These governors and senators are, to our greatest disenchantment, behind the subtle attempt to harm the health of our president. We just wonder why some politicians who could hardly pass the simpllest integrity test and had only the Buihari wind of change, should turn out to be his worst enemies.
“We strongly condemn this hypocrite posturing of some of our governors and members of the National Assembly. One of the notorious anti-Buhari agent in the National Assembly is yet to clear his name against allegations of siphoning local government resources from the state he once ruled with an iron fist to fund his political campaign, yet he is currently gallivanting around the country, while neglecting the voters whom he claims to be representing in the National Assembly.”
The letter added that, “We have conducted a prayer session for the souls of our loved ones who lost their lives in the unfortunate terrorists attack on the Kano Central Mosque 1000 days ago.”
However, thousands of President Buhari supporters and well-wishers thronged the Sani Abacha stadium where they glorified God for the safe return of President Buhari from London and prayed that God shall continue to grant him good health.
According to the organizer of the two-million-man match and prayers for President Buhari, Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Broadcast Media, Alhaji Shaban Ibrahim Sharada, the prayer and rally was organized to appreciate God’s divine intervention and mercy in the life and administration of President Buhari.
