The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recruited over 51,000 ad hoc staff in Kano for 2019 general election exercise.

The HOD voters’ education and publicity INEC Kano Alhaji Garba Lawan who made the disclosure while addressing the pressmen in his office in Kano recently, saying that the 2019 exercise will be jealously guided by the commission and the election this time around will be different because the present INEC is so far the most improved institution and unbiased umpire in the history of electioneers in Nigeria.

Lawan explain that the forth coming general election will be peaceful because we believe in neutrality, credibility and we are committed to having a free, fair, transparent and peaceful general election to consolidate the position of Nigeria that the credible election held on 2015 was not a fluke, it was a product of deliberate planning and 2019 election is going to be the same.

He said when the present management came on board meetings were held with all the stateholders and the stumbling block in the wheel of progress was removed.

Garba dismissed the allegation that the commission’s integrity to conduct free, fair and credible election is under pressure to do any wrong saying that INEC has never been under pressure to do what is wrong and we will never compromised our integrity to do what the law says that we should not and for the 2019 general election I want to assure and reassure the Nigerians that and nothing but votes will count.

He pointed out that in Kano over 5.4 million people have registered to cast their votes in 2019 general election and all the materials needed to ensure the smooth exercise are available therefore we urge Nigerians and stakeholders to give their maximum cooperation during the exercise.
