Turnout of government workers in Benin, the Edo capital was impressive on Tuesday, a day after the 2-day public holidays announced by the Federal Government to celebrate the Easter period.
Journalist reports that as early as 8:00 a.m., state government workers were already trooping to the Edo State Secretariat along Sapele Road in Benin to resume work.
At the state’s Civil Service Commission, workers were already at their various offices for the day’s job at about 9:00 a.m.
Some of the workers who spoke to journalists, said they were delighted to resume work, after the Easter break.
They said the break afforded them the opportunity to relax with friends and family members.
Mr Adams Osagie, a Newspaper vendor at the state secretariat expressed satisfaction with the level of workers’ compliance to the resumption after the public holidays.
He said “I came here as early as 7:00 a.m. and I have almost exhausted the copies of
newspapers I brought here to sell.
“I am happy that workers resumed work today and they came on time,” he said.
Journalists also observed that the food vendors within the secretariat complex visited were displaying their wares in anticipation of good sales.
