The Managing Director of of Ikenne Microfinance Bank, Ikenne Remo, Pastor Thomas Ayobami Babarinde has reiterated the commitment of the bank to better service delivery aimed at helping the rural dwellers to achieve financial freedom and keep contributing their quota to the growth and development of the Nigerian economy.
Pastor Babarinde made this pledge during the commissioning of it’s new multi million naira ultra modern banking hall built within six months.
Babarinde, a Senior Pastor with Redeemed Christian Church of God disclosed that the desire to have their customers attended to under a very conducive atmosphere as well as the need to enhance the corporate image of the 24-years-old bank among others informed the decision to have a new banking edifice with all the cutting edge facilities.
He added that the new imposing edifice was also another strong evidence that the bank was doing profitably well because it was the income of the bank that paid for its new building saying “ the implications of this is that our customers’ confidence in the bank will further be boosted, this will overtime attract more quality customers for the good and progress of the bank “.
Pastor Babarinde, while attributing the successful completion of the new banking hall under six months to God, he equally lauded the bank board of directors led by Otunba Idowu Adenuga describing them all as men and women of visions and strong character who are always toiling day and night for the progress of the bank and that the new banking edifice would have best existed as a dream without their support.
He however regretted the challenge of people unwilling to pay back loans collected from the bank saying that “ this act is no doubt unpatriotic, it is eaten deep into our profits as our regulators would always insist we pay these bad loans from our profits. I am using this medium once again to plead with our customers to help us to serve them better by paying promptly all facilities borrowed from the bank “.
Pastor Babarinde while commending members of staff of the bank for their steadfastness and cooperation urged them to keep flying high the flag of the bank and make it the best microfinance institution in the country.
He added that arrangements were already in top gear for the internet banking facility of the bank such that people can from their comfort of their homes send and receive money from anywhere in the country.
Pastor Babarinde declared that the bank shareholders would have cause to smile home during its Annual General Meeting slated for 18th of this month.
Speaking at the occasion, Otunba Idowu Adenuga, Chairman, board of directors of the bank lauded all the illustrious sons and daughters of the town who conceived the idea of having a bank for the community 24 years ago saying that they have no doubt etched their names in gold due to the positive impact of the bank on the people of the town and its environs.
Otunba Adenuga has however urged management staff of the bank to continue to ensure its sound financial management, block all leakages and improve on its profitability to make the bank wax stronger every day and remain alive to its responsibilities both to its customers and shareholders.
Pioneer Chairman, board of directors of the bank for 10 years, Otunba Adeleke Adesina said the need to help the people of the town have access to fund to run their businesses without much hurdles led to the establishment of the bank saying that 24 years after, he was grateful to God that the bank had surpassed expectations.
Other dignitaries at the event were Alakenne of Ikenne, Oba Adeyinka Onakade, former Chairman of the bank, Barr. Adebayo Ariyo, Dr(Mrs) Ofiran, Chief (Mrs) Ayotunde Osibamowo, Otunba Femi Allen, Mr Kehinde Sulu, Chief Mota Odumusi who are all members, board of directors of the bank as well as Otunba Sola Odumosu, Chairman, Ikenne Development Association, Mr Joshua Ukute, President, National Association of Microfinance Banks of Nigeria, Ogun State branch among others.
