Ex-NIMASA DG lands in jail over n1.5bn fraud 


Raymond Omatseye, a former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration Safety Agency (NIMASA), has been jailed over a N1.5bn contract scam.

This sentence was confirmed by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Friday, May 20, 2016.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had arraigned Mr. Omatseye for engaging in contract splitting and bid rigging estimated at over N1.5bn while he was the DG of NIMASA.

According to reports, the offence, contravened Section 58(4) (d) of the Public Procurement Act, 2007.

Omatseye was also charged with money laundering contrary to Sections 14(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2004.
