Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has said that the outgoing Governor Seriake Dickson did his possible best in the just held governorship election where the candidate Peoples Democratic Party, Diri Duoye lost to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mohammed made statement when Dickson paid him courtesy visit in Bauchi yesterday, he said: He said: “What happened at the election was not a lost, it is something that he has done his best and all of us have done our best. I know we are victorious, victory is already with us.
He added that Bayelsa has contributed to his political career. “If I have any doubt before that I must succeed, now the doubts are clear that I am being watched not only by the of Bauchi State but by the people of my adopted state –Bayelsa. I have to the World that I can’t forget Bayelsa because I was not elected to become a minister, though I was elected as a senator by the people of Bauchi. But they didn’t elect to become the statesman that I became, it is through your state that I became what I became. When others were pulling me down you people were lifting me up.”
Earlier, Dickson described the Kogi and Bayelsa states elections as “political coup d’etat.” He said: “My views and that of observers and all those who have had the opportunity to comment on what happened not just in Bayelsa but also in Kogi are all there and they are all unanimous that what took place was not an election properly, so-called.
”In fact, we are now experiencing a new concept of civilian coup d’etat and I will credit that to the former President Goodluck Jonathan and he was right, that’s the sort of thing that took place in Bayelsa and Kogi.
Dickson on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors lauded the Court of Appeal for its judgement which upheld the victory of Bala Mohammed as duly elected Governor of the State. He congratulated the Bala while tasking him to do more of developmental projected.
He said: We congratulate you again on your victory at the Appeal Court, when it did the right thing by upholding your victory as the Governor of this great State. We in the PDP Governors Forum felicitate with you on this well deserved victory, we will continue to give you supports, we your colleagues are proud of you.
Also, on behalf of Bayelsa people, we congratulate you. We have been following your political progress, all Bayelsans are very elated when you were elected to this very exalted position. I have congratulated you earlier, but I deemed it fit to step to this soil of Bauchi to congratulate you again before I leave office in the next two months that I have.
