The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Muhammadu Gana has revealed that the Corps has deployed 10,000 personnel across the states to sensitize the people on the reality of COVID-19 pandemic.
He made the disclosure while taking delivery of beverages from the Managing Director of Mutual Commitment Company Limited, Mr Liu Zhao Long at the Corps Headquarters, Abuja in appreciation of the Corps selfless service rendered in curtailing the spread of COVID-19 Pandemic in Nigeria on Monday.
The Commandant in a statement made available to this medium through the Public Relations Officer of the Corps, DCC EMMANUEL OKEH stressed that the Corps carryout the enforcement order of ’’seat at home’’ by the Federal and State Government as a Critical Stakeholder in Disaster Management, Rescue, Mitigation and provision of early warning alert signals to the populace.
Gana appreciated Mr Liu and his team for their support and promised that the items donated which comprises of Biscuit, Idomie, Milo, Hollandia Juice, Cornflake, Hand sanitizer and Vegetable oils will be adequately distributed to the personnel to boost their morale.
Mr Liu noted that the Corps has played a tremendous role in this critical period in Nigeria and the world at large in curtailing the dreaded disease ravaging the world through its enlightenment and sensitisation programmes across the globe.
He promised to reward the Civil Defence Officer who apprehended the patient that ran away from the isolation centre in Kaduna State without been kited, in his word ’’He deserves a life time award’’.
The Managing Director stressed that more organizations including his group will still return back to reward the Corps with more items considering the Corps personnel dedication to the assignment and their diligent way of executing the mandate, ’’From the gate, I observed the way your personnel compose themselves and even those working outside, we are proud to associate with you and the Corps’’.
The Commandant General however gave an instant order for the item to be distributed to the affected officers without delay.
