Coventry to sign Ayegbeni

Former Nigerian striker, Yakubu Ayegbeni, is set to undergo a fitness test at Coventry City as the League One outfit seeks escape relegation.

The Nigerian is no stranger to English Leagues having played top flight football with Portsmouth, Everton, Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers, scoring 96 goals in nine years.

Coventry are hoping Ayegbeni can get the goals to guarantee their escape from relegation.

Sources claimed the 35-year-old is looking to resurrect his playing career after returning to England from a year in the Turkish Super League with Kayserispor.

Ayegbeni first made his name as a prolific goal scorer in Israel with Maccabi Haifa, for whom he scored seven goals in eight UEFA Champions League games, including a hat-trick against Olympiakos and a penalty in the 3–0 win over Manchester United.
