Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has sacked no fewer than 61 officers for offences bothering on certificate forgery, improper examination and fraudulent release of containers.
The list of the affected officers shows that 16 other officers were retired from the Service also for certificate forgery and refusal of staff order.
The document shows that officers who were investigated and tried were exonerated, 22 officers were issued with query while five officers were given written warning to be of better behavior.
Two of the officers who were dismissed were of the rank of Comptroller of Customs while three were Deputy Comptrollers of Customs.
Others were nine assistant Controllers and nine Chief Superintendent of Customs among others.
Recall that in August this year NCS dismissed 29 senior officers for misconduct – About 10 officers were retired from service, while the appointment of one of them was terminated
Four officers were also given written warnings to be of better conduct while another four who were investigated and tried for some offences were exonerated
