Stakeholders in the transport sector have berated the administration of both the Minister of Transport Rotimi Chibuike Ameachi, and Minister of State for Aviation Hardi Sirika
Describing the transport administrations as one of the worst administration so far, with government paying little or no attention to the transport sector.
Speaking with Nigerian NewsDirect the Director, Research and Advocacy at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). Dr Vincent Nwani described the transport sector in Nigeria as nothing to celebrate in the last two years of this administration According to him “in fairness, this administration has not done any feasible land mark in the transport sector. The economic growth plan of Nigeria relies on transport and other critical sector like power.
“We want to see rail transport moving from Lagos to Kano, Kaduna, but we are yet to see and this is what will ease the means of doing business in Nigeria.
“The south east road is a mirage and I am not sure there is anything we can celebrate about in the transport
He noted that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has not met up to standard’.
Nwani added that though the first half of Buhari’s administration may be poor but optimistic that the remaining two years of his administration should be better.
Stake holders in this sector described the administration as poor and should not worth celebrating, The true position in the year, particularly, 2016 was that airline operators barely survived in 2016, having been burdened with a lot of challenges, including lack of aviation fuel, foreign exchange, manpower, multiple taxation, charges etc.
