Bauchi government sacks principal for starving students

Bauchi State Government has fired a secondary school principal for allegedly starving students of General Hassan Usman Katsina Unity College, Bauchi.

The State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Aliyu Tilde, said the Principal whose name was not given and two storekeepers were found shortchanging the students’ meal.

“They were seen serving foods that should be given to 350 students to over 1,200 of them last weekend,” Tilde said in a statement.

He said the state government supplies sufficient food items to all its 35 boarding schools before the inception of the school year.

Tilde approved the appointment of a new principal.

The statement further quoted the commissioner as saying that a robust high-tech arrangement for monitoring of student meals along with designated residents food police will soon be deployed to all boarding secondary schools in the state.

“The era of starving boarding students will become history in the state in the next few weeks, in Sha Allah,” the commissioner said.
