Bauchi Gov awards road projects worth N17bn within 100 days

The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has said that his administration has awarded road contracts of 92.6 kilometers worth over N17 billion within the first 100 days in office.
Governor Bala disclosed this during a media chat organised as part of the first hundred days celebration of his administration held inside the Government House. He added that the projects include renovation, purchase of ambulances and repairs of X-ray machines at Bauchi Specialist Hospital, Dass, Azare, Alkaleri, Ningi, Dambam and Gamawa.
Bala explained that fifty percent of all amount of the project has been paid to the contractors handling the project in order to fast track it execution. He added that over 227 million naira has been spent for various projects in the health sector within the first 100 days of his administration.
He claimed that his administration has paid 200 million naira as its counterpart contribution to the fund of the Primary Healthcare Immunization in addition to the payment of 100 million naira for Basic Healthcare Provision fund.
Governor Bala who pointed out that, 673 million naira was disbursed to selected primary healthcare facilities that are participating in the NSHIP partnership program, said 20 local government Areas have been ordered to contribute 1 percent of their internally generated revenue to the Bauchi State Healthcare Trust Fund.
On education, Governor Bala said ten point eight billion naira has been injected into the state as education intervention from TETFUND and UBEC while over 600 million naira has been released for the purchase of fertilizer and agro chemicals as a revolving fund to ensure steady supply of inputs.
According to the governor, in an effort to ensure zero tolerance for corruption in the state, a High Powered Commitee has been constituted for the recovery of government properties and funds.
He added that his administration has put all the machineries in place to facilitate desired development and growth in all the potential areas of the state through the appointment of State Commissioners, Special Advisers, Heads of MDA’s as well as Caretaker Committee Chairmen.
