Barcelona have announced the signing of Enyimba and Nigerian forward, Ezekiel Bassey on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Bassey, however, will not be playing alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar as he has only been signed by the B-team of the Spanish giants.
According to the Barcelona youth team, there is an option of a further two years for the 20-year-old if he impresses in his loan deal.
The deal is subject to a successful medical which will hold on Tuesday, January 31.
“FC Barcelona and Enyimba Football Club have reached an agreement for the transfer until the end of season of the player Ezekiel Joseph Bassey for Barça B,” Barcelona B-team announced on their website.
“The agreement includes a purchase option for two more seasons. The 20-year-old Nigerian striker will undergo medical examination in the next few hours.”
Bassey returns to Spain where he spent a week with Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) All-Star during their tour of Spain in 2015.
If he impresses on loan, the 20-year who can play from the wings and as a striker could join likes of Emmanuel Amuneke and Gbenga Okunowo as the only Nigerians to play Barcelona senior side.
