Two members of Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) were feared killed and three journalists shot at a rally organised for the governorship candidate of the APC in Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The rally took place at Skypower field, Ikeja, Lagos.
Among those that were hit by the gun was the group political editor of Nation newspaper, Emmanuel Oladesu, NewsTelegraph correspondent, Temitope Ogunbanke, Ibile Television cameraman, Abiodun Yusuf, among others.
A number of persons were also injured, robbed and beaten at the rally.
Trouble started at about 1:30 pm when Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode was delivering his speech. Suspected rival groups of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) shot each other.
Hoodlums took advantage of the occasion as they robbed people of their phones, money and bags.
An NURTW official Musiliu Akinsanya also known as ‘Oluomo’ was beaten with sticks by thugs.
Despite the stampede caused by hoodlums and security men, Ambode continued his address and handed the microphone to the party candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu who delivered the vote of thanks.
The campaign which started by 12:30 pm had party bigwigs in attendance, excluding the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Two people were reportedly killed as at the time of filing this report.
Though the identity of the hoodlums who stabbed him is yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, there are feelers that Oluomo’s attackers could be men of the Kunle Poly’s faction of the NURTW.
MC Oluomo, was who was beside Sego, another prominent member of the union, when he was stabbed has been rushed to the hospital for treatment immediately.
National chairman of the union, Tajudeen Agbede, was among those who rushed MC Oluomo who was in a pool of blood to the hospital.

Meanwhile,, the authorities of the Lagos State Police Command have declared one Mustapha Adekunle aka Seigo wanted for attempting to disrupt the APC rally
According to the press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer
Lagos State, CSP Chike Oti, the said Mustapha Adekunle aka Seigo, an NURTW chieftain, came to the rally with a group of people and were identified at the entrance as supporters of the party.
“However, at the tail end of the event, Seigo and his group for a reason yet to be determined violently engaged other supporters of the party. In the ensuing melee, one MC Oluomo, another NURTW chieftain, was stabbed and was rushed to EKO Hospital where he is currently recuperating while two other victims of the attack were taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for treatment The crisis was quickly contained by policemen at the venue” the Police image maker said.
Oti also informed newsmen tgat a few hours before the rally started, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, held a meeting with the leaders of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW ), ROAD TRANSPORT EMPLOYERS ASSOCIATION and other affiliate groups where all the parties agreed to eschew violence before, during and after the electioneering.
“It was therefore surprising that a prominent member of NURTW would attempt to violently disrupt a peaceful political rally.
In view of the development, the Command wishes to encourage members of the public with useful information on the whereabouts of Mustapha Adekunle popularly known as Seigo to report such at a nearest police station”.
The Police said two persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.
