APC delegates approve Buhari  as Presidential Candidate

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed the candidature  of President Muhammadu Buhari with 14,842,072 votes from 14. 8 million party members in direct primaries earlier conducted in all states and the FCT.

Buhari was affirmed as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2019 general elections on Saturday night by delegates across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja during the APC National Convention held at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

 

Kayode Fayemi, Chairman of the  Election Sub Committee of the National Convention who announced the results said Buhari scored a total of “14, 14, 8402, 072 votes in the direct primaries”.

 

Fayemi noted that the procedure met the requirements of the Electoral Act and APC Electoral guidelines while the delegates made voice affirmation of the results from their respective states.

 

Similarly, Governor Ajimobi, Chairman of the Convention Committee in a welcome address, urged Nigerians to vote Buhari and APC in 2019 general election as both the President and APC remain the antidotes for underdevelopment and bad governance in the country.

 

In attendance are the APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, along with Members of the National Working Committee, APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu and John Oyegun, the immediate past National Chairman of the party.

 

Most APC Governors including Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa, Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa, Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo, Mohammed Gaidam of Yobe, Kashim Shettima of Borno and Nasir el Rufai of Kaduna led delegates from their respective states to the convention.

 

Furthermore, Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives led Members of both Chambers of the National Assembly to the convention while Secretary to the Government of Federation, Boss Mustapha in company of Ministers also attended the convention.
