APC coasts to victory in all 3 senatorial, 22 house of rep seats in Kano

The all Progressives Congress (APC) has won all the three senatorial seats in Kano state, former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shekarau who contested under the party also won the Kano North Central.

Declaring the result for Kano North Senatorial district at the collation center in Bichi Local government area, the returning officer, professor Tijani Abdullahi said the APC senatorial candidate, Barau Jibrin scored 286,419 to clinch the seat.

While Ahmad Garba Bichi of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, scored 155,683.

Jubril was first voted to the senate chamber in 2015.

Former governor of Kano state and ex- minister of Education Ibrahim Shekarau of the APC won the Kano Central senatorial district with 506, 271

While his closest contender, Sani Madaki Gini of the PDP scored 296, 778.

Shekarau will be first timer in the senate chamber when sworn in on the 29th of May.

Result for the Kano South Senatorial district was not different as the candidate of the All progressive Congress Kabir Gaya was returned to the seat with a total number of. 319,004 votes.

The result was announced by the returning officer, professor Ibrahim Barde at Rano local government area collation center…

He said Abdullahi Sani Rogo of PDP scored 217,520.Votes to place second.

Senator Gaya has being in the senate since 2007.

Kano south senatorial district has the highest number of local government in Nigeria with 16 local government areas.

Kano has the second highest registered voters in the country with over 5 million voters and has 44 local government Areas regarded as the highest in the country.

In a related development the All Progressive Congress also won all the 22  House of Representatives/ constituency seats in the state..

Some of the results declared include that of the Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum who emerged victorious under the Rano, kibiya and Bunkure federal constituency.

According to the returning officer, professor Kabiru Hameed of Bayero University, Kano, Rurum, a candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC polled 62,455 votes to beat the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sani Muhammad Aliyu Rano who scored 33, 296 votes.

Similarly, the former Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Abdurrahman Kawu-Sumaila won the House of Representatives  seat for Takai/Sumaila Federal Constituency in the State.

Kawu-Sumaila, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC)  defeated two other major contenders from PDP and the  Peoples Redemption Party ,PRP.

Announcing the results in Sumaila, the Returning Officer for the constituency, Prof. Mustapha Hassan-Bichi, said the APC candidate scored 55, 487 votes to defeat the PDP candidate, Surajo Kanawa who polled  18,445 votes and Samaila Abdullahi of PRP, who got10,627 votes.

The APC also won Kura/Madobi/Garunmalam and Danbatta/Makoda Federal constituencies among others.

Meanwhile collation of results for the presidential election in Kano has been completed and the result is expected in National collation center in Abuja the nation’s capital on Tuesday.
