Welcome to another exciting week! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. Today, we shall focus on: Accessing Fresh Oil Through Praise AndThanksgiving.

We understand from scriptures that fresh oil connotes the anointing of the Holy Spirit that impacton all areas of life. It is not a religious thing, but an asset for living. This is why without the Holy Ghost we cannot fulfil God’s plans and purposes for our lives. Concerning Jesus, the Bible says,How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him (Acts 10:38; see also Isaiah 61:1-3). From that scripture, God, the Father, is the Anointer who anointed Jesuswith power. Also, Jesus said,And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever (John 14:16). Therefore, the Father is the custodian of the anointing.  However, until we get across to the Anointer, we are not candidates for the anointing. But there is no other way to get anointed than to get into His presence. Undoubtedly, divine presence is the most valuable asset of any Christian endeavour. Show me an anointed man, and I will show you a man who is always in God’s presence. Indeed, nothing compares in value with divine presence in our Christian life.

How Then Do We Get IntoHis Presence?

Thanksgiving and praise are covenant platforms through which we access His presence. While it takes praise to access His presence, it takes accessing His presence to be anointed with fresh oil. That is why those who are not given to praise always run unction dry. For instance, David, the praise giant, praised God seven times a day and God speaking of him, said,I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him. And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him (Psalm 89:20-23; see also Psalm119:164). It is also written, It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, …But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of a unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil (Psalm 92:1-2, 10).This means that when we praise and thank God, His presence is invoked and He pours the anointing of the Holy Spirit on us for fulfilment of our destinies in Christ Jesus (Psalm23:5-6, 34:1, 100:4).

But, What Is In The Anointing Of The Holy Ghost?

From scriptures, we understand that the anointing of the Holy Spirit engenders our access to the following:

Ø             Supernatural Victory:The anointing empowers us to conquer in any situation that may confront us. For instance, by the anointing upon Christ, the scripture records that every demon possessed person He encountered trembled saying: ‘Have You come to destroy us before our time?’ (Acts 10:38; Psalm 92:10-11).

Revelation: The anointing of the Holy Ghost also grants us access to revelation, which is the spiritual understanding of God’s Word(1 Corinthians 2:10; John 14:26;Isaiah 60:1-22).

The Oil Of Joy: Concerning Jesus, the Bible says,Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows (Psalms 45:6-7).From the above scripture, we discover that the anointing upon Christ is called the oil of gladness, which empowered Him to rejoice in the Spirit at all times. As it is written,In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth… (Luke 10:21).That means it takes the anointing to access joy and the Bible says that with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation (Isaiah12:3).Therefore, with the anointing we have access to joy and that in turn grants us access to divine strength, health and vitality (Deuteronomy 28:46-48;Nehemiah 8:10; Psalm 84:7; Proverbs 17:22, 18:14; Matthew 3:11-13; Romans 8:11).However, it is important to know that depression never adds value to our lives, it only erodes them. Also, it doesn’t provide a solution to our struggles; instead, it complicates them. This is because when we complain in a seemly negative situation, the anointing on our lives runs dry and the situation grows worse.

In summary, it is important to know that all that is required to make the most of our journey on earth is domiciled in fresh oil. However, fresh oil can only be accessed in God’s presence, and His presence is accessible through thanksgiving and praise, among others. Therefore, we must continually appreciate God, if we desire to remain freshly anointed. However, accessing fresh oil is the preserve of those who are children of God. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me! Now, I know I am born again!
