Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed said the contributions of the late Moshood Olawale Kashimawo Abiola to attainment of democracy in Nigeria is exemplary and heroic.
Bala said this year’s democracy day is “unique and significant” in a very special way. “We recall Mr President on June 12 last year recognise Chief M.K.O. Abiola as the true Democratically elected president in the 1993 General Elections. He also honoured the late M.K.O. Abiola with the title of GCON.
“We praise the heroism and dynamism of the late M.K.O. Abiola for his exemplary contribution to the evolution of our democracy”, he said in a statement by his Spokesman Ladan Salihu on Wednesday.
The Governor reminded Nigerians that “Bauchi being the incubation centre of politics in the country will provide the exemplary leadership which would be anchored on the finest democratic principles and practices of good governance, transparency, and delivery”.
He said further that the best way for the State Government to celebrate Democracy Day is to upgrade the living standards of Bauchi state citizens through the provision of critical infrastructure.
He assured that Bauchi will be ranked among the best in all sphere of development.
