Abiodun will get party’s nominees for Commissioner, LG Caretaker members this week – Oladunjoye, Ogun APC Spokesman

By Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta

The Spokesman for Caretaker Commitee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogun state, Hon Tunde Oladunjoye has hinted that barring any unforeseen circumstances, the list of party’s nominees for Commissioner and local government caretaker members being compiled by the party should hopefully get to the governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun before the end of the week.

Hon Tunde Oladunjoye in an exclusive interview with our Correspondent on Sunday disclosed this.

The former Chairman of Ijebu East local government said that the party should be blamed for the inability of the goverrnor, Prince Abiodun to have announced list of the cabinet members as he had promised to do in October after the party’s caucus meeting.

He explained that during the party’s caucus meeting held in October which had in attendance leaders of the party such as Chief Olusegun Osoba and other top hierarchy of the party, the governor mandated that the party should send names of three people from each federal constituency for consideration for commissionership appointment.

Hon Oladunjoye who said he may not be able to say the exact number of local government or federal constituency that have complied or those that have not however added as at last week Friday, the party was still expecting some local governments to forward their lists saying that this largely was why the goverrnor couldn’t keep up with his promise to unveil his cabinet members last month.

He said the goverrnor who could go ahead to assemble his cabinet members without recourse to the party has decided to give the party its due regard and patiently allow it compiled the list of those who the party knew would assist the goverrnor to build together a glorious future of the state.

Hon Oladunjoye said as at last week Friday only few local governments were yet to submit their lists saying that the party in its meeting scheduled for Tuesday would review situation of things over the submission of list and then find the way forward hinting that hopefully the party should be able to submit its compilation to the goverrnor before Friday.

Hon Oladunjoye said “I can however assured you that the list is being finalised and will soon be sent to the goverrnor. The party will meet this week Tuesday, and  subject to the advise or directive of the party, the party will review how many local government are outstanding because as at the close of work on Friday only few local governments were outstanding.

“All ought to have been submitted by now but when we we get to the office on Tuesday, we will contact outstanding local government and let them know that they will have themselves to blame if their inputs are not in what we are sending to the goverrnor. But hopefully the list should get to the goverrnor this week. The list includes that of Commissionership, local government caretaker members and the rest”.

Meanwhile, Hon Oladunjoye has also debunked the rumour that the goverrnor was not carrying along the party in his politics of inclusiveness policy.

Tongues were set wagging last week when Comr Abayomi Arabambi, Chairman of Labour Party in the state led other 79 political parties Chairmen including PDP and ADC to pass vote of confidence in Gov Abiodun’s administration and then pledged to support the government in its efforts to take the state to the next level.

It was alleged that this moves of the goverrnor did not receive the blessing of the leadership of his party, APC in the state and that this was already causing some sort of disquiet in the party as many believed that members of these different parties now moving in droves to APC were only coming to enjoy or reap where they never sowed.

Oladunjoye has however stated that it was not true that the governor never carried the party along saying “ Our party ran campaign based on politics of inclusiveness. The governor promised that he will be goverrnor of all.The inclusiveness did not start today but immediately after the goverrnor was elected.

“In his Economic Transition Commitee, we have Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, ADC governorship candidate in the election that brought in Prince Dapo Abiodun, Reuben Abati Deputy governor candidate of PDP, likewise Alhaja Salmot Badru, former Deputy Governor PDP stalwart and Mr Babatunde Lemo, a technocrat who chaired the committee.

“Don’t forget that in the anal of governorship electoral victory in the state, it has never happened when many opposition members like Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Otunba Rotimi Paseda, Sen Kashamu were at Iperu country home of the governor elect then, Prince Dapo Abiodun to rejoice with the governor. So, the politics of inclusiveness did not just start today.

“It will not be totally correct to say some party members don’t feel threatened, it is natural because we are used to governance of winners take it all. But this politic of inclusiveness has promoted peace in the state, a clear departure from violence that permeated the state from last year October and March before the governorship election.

“Ogun state government office is now open to everyone subject to the convenience of the governor. We have a situation in the past when a governor was in power and leadership of opposition had to vacate the state but things are changing now. My appeal to our people is to trust the leadership of the party in the state and governor on the wisdom he is bringing on board.

“Assuming, we are having 20 Commissioners slots which cannot even be up to that, can it go round all members of APC alone? It surely can’t There will be a lot of others places where people will be appreciated and efforts will be compensated. It will in the long run be a blessing for the party because the more the merrier as long as people coming to join the party follow due process. At the end of the day it will be in general interest of the party”.
