The governor of Ogun state, Prince Dapo Abiodun has promised to empower at least 100,000 women with his microcredit scheme, Oko Owo Dapo, insisting that his government would leave no stone unturned to empower the women and improve their lots in the state.
He also hinted that between 40 to 50per cent of his cabinet members would be women as his government was ready to tap from the managerial skills of the women folks.
The governor stated this during the year 2020 budget stakeholders Town Hall meeting for the people of Ogun West Senatorial District held on Wednesday at Yewa Frontier Hall, Ilaro.
Abiodun while responding to the demands of the people at the occasion promised to revamp the moribund Gateway Hotel, Ota saying the government could not allow resources of people of the state to continue waste away.
The governor said, though he had not been elected to witch hunt anybody but he may have no choice than to demolish one of the N1.5bn model schools built at Ilaro due to its structural deficiency.
He added that his government had penciled down the model school as the Tech Hub centre for Ogun West but that he had received report that the school is structurally defective and would, therefore, be pulled down for a new structure.
The governor reiterated his commitment to making life much more bearable for the residents of the state explaining that the essence of the town hall meeting was to know the priority of the people and be part of the inputs into the government budget for next year.
Senator Akin Odunsi, at the occasion, urged the government to declare state of emergency in tackling the preponderance of bad roads across the Senatorial district saying that the area which forms the revenue base of the state must not be made to suffer unjustly.
