…..as TESCOM inducts 82 Principals, 121 VPs
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has approved the elevation of the embattled teacher that was sacked by the immediate past administration, Mr. Dare Ilekoya to the status of a Principal.
This was disclosed by the Chairman Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ogun State Chapter, Comrade Titilope Adebanjo, during the induction of 82 principals and 121 Vice Principals at Lisabi Grammar School, Idi-Aba in Abeokuta
Adebanjo who was represented by the NUT State Vice Chairman, Mr. Akinola Adeleke said the gesture of the governor to teachers since inception has been so incredible and wonderful, promising that Ogun State teachers would leave no stone unturned with regards to education development in the state.
He appreciated the Governor for the recent promotion of teachers who have been stagnated for years, upgrading the schools infrastructure, absorption of 28 Community Schools along with 577 teacher , recruitment of primary school teachers among others.
Speaking Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary, Secondary and Technical Education, Mrs Ronke Soyombo, said that their new elevation calls for more responsibilities and challenges that come with it, adding that they must be humble, diligent and vision driven principals with good leadership characters.
“As you have all been inducted today, i want you to display a very high intellectual intelligence, be a vision driven principals, be humble and be diligent with good leadership characters worthy of emulation by students and teachers under your supervision, as well be aware that you are all builders of future leaders with regards to Nation building”. Soyombo said.
She added that it was imperative for the principals to revived the forgotten reeding culture attitude in students and teachers by making the schools libraries more attractive and conducive for students, saying that all hand must be on deck for education sector in Ogun State to take its rightful position.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Tertiary Education, Prof. Sidi Osho noted that inductees should seek divine wisdom and strive to meaningfully contribute their quota to the development of education standard of their pupils, advising that jealousy should be aborted amidst them and allow peace and tranquility to reign in their mist.
In her good will message, the Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) Mrs. Mojisola Dosunmu urged them to maintain, Firmness and be accommodating to members of staff and students under their supervision, adding that they should not relied solely on their present academic qualifications as they should always seek for more knowledge with regards to their educational upgrading.
She said doing this would boost their performance as schools administrators as well as earned them respect among other fellow counterpart.
” I want you to continually seek relevant knowledge I school administrator by so doing it will enhance your output as a principals as well as earned you respect when it comes to intellectual, moral and academic performance among your fellow counterparts” Dosunmu said.
