About 21 Senators and three state governors have finalized plans to defect to African Democratic Congress (ADC) in a few weeks plan to further their political career.
According to investigation by Nigerian NewsDirect, the aggrieved governors and senators have been in close contact with the leadership of Coalition for Nigeria Movement (CNM), before the coalition finally resolved to join ADC.
A top official of CNM told our correspondents that most aggrieved and persecuted politicians are making enquiries on daily basis about the plans of the movement and now that we have finally resolved to adopt ADC, they would soon start joining us.
“Many of them were afraid to join us before, but with the very disputed ward congresses of APC all over the country and the fraudulent convention of Peoples Democratic Party, many of the bigwigs would start joining us” the official told Nigerian NewsDirect.
Although , he did not mention any name, Nigerian NewsDirect learnt that two governors from North Central and one from South East will soon join the party.
Nigerian NewsDirect investigation revealed that two deputy governors, one in the NorthEast and the other in SouthEast have also contacted the leadership of the party for defection.
In the meantime, the party, ADC whose headquarters is currently located along Nyanya-Jikwoyi Road, a suburb of Abuja, would soon move to a befitting office complex in the main city of Abuja. The party currently occupies an apartment on the third floor of Capital Plaza, which houses other business centres.
“Plans are in top gear to open state offices in all the 36 states of the federation and in all the 774 local governments in the country. This will be done before the end of next month, June due to Islamic fasting period which will start this week and end in 30 days time” a party official told Nigerian NewsDirect.
Nigerian NewsDirect revealed that part of the agreement the new party financiers reached with the leadership of Chief Ralph Nwosu-led executive of ADC is to hand over the party to new elected chairmen but the interest of the current leadership will be well taken care of
“Both Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Accord party leadership failed to accept change in leadership structure which made us (CNM) to look elsewhere”
In the meantime, Nigerian NewsDirect gathered that many of the financiers of ADC are retired generals and business moguls who are opposed to President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
A top official of All Progressives Congress (APC) told Nigerian NewsDirect on anonymity that many of the sponsors of the new party are not at ease with the fight against corruption of Buhari-led administration.
“There is no more stolen funds to be spent lavishly and they are not happy with that but the President remains unperturbed as he wont relent in his fight against corruption despite the opposition by those who have been benefitting from the rotten system of the past” he said.
