Ahead of 2019 general elections, aspirants from both the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC  and opposition party, PDP who may lost out in their bid to pick their respective party’s tickets are currently said to be considering the option of either Labour or Accord party in Ogun State, Nigerian NewsDirect has learnt.

A member of central working committee for Accord party inaugurated in the State last week, Asojuoba Michael Adesanya and the Secretary of the Labour  party, Mr Olaposi Oginni confirmed this development in a chat with our Correspondent.

Mr Oginni disclosed that ‘’ as a very consistent opposition party that had so far been putting the government of the day in the State on its toes, Labour party is not just an option but party to be for any politicians serious about wrestling power from APC government in the State in 2019.

There is nothing hidden about this as we have been having our meetings with these politicians in the open because we remain the party to beat in the state’’.

Similarly, Asojuoba Michael Adesanya revealed that since the birth of Accord party in the State, politicians with ambition from both APC and PDP have knocked the door of the party for accommodation. This he said was in addition to people trooping into the party from other parties such as UPN and SDP.

Asojuoba  Adesanya added that ‘’ I can confirm to you that aspirants with even eyes on the governorship of the State from other parties have knocked at our door  and we are ready to accommodate all once they are ready to buy into politics of integrity and selfless service as it’s being championed by our party’’.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed Southwest Leader for the party and its arrow head in the State, Dr Doyin Okupe has denied having any governorship ambition for the state as it was being speculated.

Speaking during the inauguration of the party secretariat at Ita-Oshin, Abeokuta, the former Presidential Spokesman declared that ‘’ at 65, what else am I looking for after serving twice at the Presidency? It’s about 15 years now that I showed interest in the governorship of the state and that has gone with the time.

My involvement now with the Accord party is to offer the good people of the state a party that is being driven purely by selfless service and good governance and with the support of all, Accord is taking over the reins of government in the state from 2019’’.
