The Joint Task Force (JTF) code-named Operation Delta Safe (OPDS) has organized its end of the year 2019 Medical Rhapsody and Health Awareness Campaign for its host Community, Igbogene in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Declaring the event opened the Chief of Staff to the JTF Col. M. Musa Said the Medical outreach is part of the Military Civil activity which ensures the cordial relationship between the Military and the Civil populace as well as appreciate the Civilian Community for their support and cooperation with regards to Military operations in the State.
Col. Musa appealed to the State Government, Traditional and Youth Leaders to enlighten their subjects on the dangers of oil theft, bunkering, piracy and other criminal activities which are inimical to the growth and development of the State in particular and the Country in general.
He commended the Chief and the entire Igbogene Community for their peaceful disposition pledging that the JTF will continue to support the host Community in whatever way they can.
In his remarks, the commander Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, Rear Admiral Akinjide Akinrinade, said the Medical outreach is part of the Force’s Civil Military Cordial Activities (CIMIC) which is one of the Chief of Defense Staff’s five pillars of War fighting.
According to him, the outreach is also aimed at winning the hearts and minds of the Local populace in order to foster cordial relationships.
The Medical Rhapsody and Health Awareness campaign which is aimed at improving the Health Care of the populace featured Health education, eye screening, blood pressure checks as well as tests for HIV, Hepatitis, random blood, sugar and malaria tests among others.
Rear Admiral Akinrinade said the mandate of the JTF is the protection of Oil and Gas infrastructure and prevent as well as deter Militancy, Crude Oil theft, Sea piracy and other forms of criminality in the Joint Operation Areas (JOA). He appreciates the Obenibe of Epie Kingdom, HRM king (Barr) Malla Sasine, the Paramount ruler of Igbogene and others for their support towards the conduct of the Medical outreach. The rear admiral equally acknowledged the Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin and other service Chiefs for their continuous support to operation Delta Safe.
Responding on behalf of the Igbogene Community, the Paramount ruler of the Community, HRH Hope Green Abadike commended the JTF for their gesture stressing that Igbogene Community has witnessed relative peace with the presence of the JTF adding that the JTF has impacted positively in the lives of the people of Igbogene and Indeed the entire Bayelsa State.
As a mark of appreciation, he presented a walking stick on behalf of the entire community to the JTF commander, Rear Admiral Akinrinade.
High point of the occasion was the visit of the JTF commander to Daisy’s orphanage at Igbogene where food items and cash was presented to the inmates by the JTF commander.
Those present at the occasion were heads and commanders of other Security Organizations.
